I've posted info on the BC-654 to include:

Part 1: Bench and Ops Notes. Repairs, Test/break out boards, Receiver 80 
meter Modifications and power.

Part 2: Battery compartment switches, transmitter power up, transmitter 
conversion  to 80 meters and calibration osc notes.

Part 3:  Under construction: The PE-104 and a DIY battery will be 
covered in detail including vibrator replacement.
