I have used a BC-654, it is a fun set to use. I agree with Robert that
it has a convoluted schematic, and is hard to trace. The 3800 kc lower
limit is a bit constricting. The set loaded my dipole with just a series
100 pf capacitor. Using a PE-103 for power.
To pick up bits of another thread going on now, I checked into the
Saturday 5AM net once, with an EE-8, connected to an RM-29, connected
to the BC-654. The only gotcha is that an operator (me in this case)has
to be next to the radio to actually key the transmitter, so all this
gear was sitting next to each other. I'm thinking about making up a
a couple of small boxes, to provide keying over a second wire pair.
