[Milsurplus] AN/AMT-3

It seems to me that we have been through all of this before with numerous articles in the various ham and electronics magazines on conversion of the BC-746 tuning unit of the BC-745 "Pogo Stick" transceiver to a 1-tube, crystal-controlled QRP transmitter. The last one I remember was by Dave, WA6VVL in a back issue of Electric Radio.
These BC-746 units used to be available, dirt cheap, from mail order firms such as Lafayette and Burstein Applebee.

  Hi Al,

I don't dispute the easy possibility...I dispute the usability and interest in such an application.

Real-life operational use of this and other military equipment by the military could be very interesting, but ham-hack hobbiest-tinkerer use IMHO is not.

I agree with your "leave it unmolested" conclusion.

    Mike,

A coupling cap into a straight-forward pi network would do the trick.

But, there's nothing there. You might as well scratch build the thing, and leave the 'sonde unmolested.

I have one of those transmitters somewhere. With a little
conversion it would make a QRP transmitter.
Yeah. Wouldn't THAT be useful.
