[Milsurplus] Radar modulator

Anyone familiar with the type 1257 hydrogen thyratron used to modulate 
the Bendix FPS-6 radar? If so, could you tell me if the filament is 
visible when running. I have one and applied the 6.3V@ 20amp running 
current and it gets very warm but I suspect internal shielding prevents 
viewing the filament. The tube was made by Cambridge Electronics, a 
division of Tung/Sol.
