You're thinking Navy RU or AAF BC-229 or BC-429.
Those have 3 and 4 gangs, this one has 5, plus the construction is clearly 1950s or later.
I am guessing around 250 pF section. I don't have an immediate use for it. I did think of something similar to what 
Howie suggested, except - it would be a crystal radio, with 5 tuned circuits. I built one ages ago with 3 tuned 
circuits. But better to think about this project than to do it.

Somewhere in the attic here is a receiver which looks like a just slightly oversized command set receiver that is a TRF predecessor to the command set 
receivers.   It has a multi-gang capacitor, but I don't recall how many gangs 
right now.
