The VBX-1 modules come in two versions. One is for applications where
the voltage on the transformer primary and the vibrator module is
between 3 and 12 volts, the other is for 13-28 volts. The original
vibrator in the DY-88 is labeled 6 volt, and that can be deceiving when
choosing the correct module to order. It has a 6 volt coil and seperate
interrupter contacts and pin connection, if the coil is powered with 6
volts it will buzz whether there is voltage on the transformer primary
contacts or not. The voltage on the transformer primary contacts can be
6, 12, or 24 volts depending on the voltage selection. The "VB" modules
are powered by the voltage applied to the transformer primary, not by
the 6 volts appled to the coil of the original, so you must choose the
correct module based on the voltage the power supply will be operated
on. If you want to be able to operate the DY-88 on 6/12/24 volts, you
will need to get both models of modules, build 2 vibrators, and be sure
the correct one is plugged in for the voltage being used.
