[Milsurplus] SSB-1 sighting

The SSB-1 is an interesting transceiver IMHO. You don’t often see RCA
mechanical filters and you don’t often see a commercial rig that was used
on many US Navy warships. It was an interim SSB rig used until the Navy
started installing the Collins URC-32. The Navy also designed a 4 channel
antenna tuner AN/SRA-20 to use with the 4 channel SSB-1 and the Navy’s
standard 35’ whip. Interestingly, the antenna tuner includes a
sound-powered telephone jack, handy when one person is adjusting the tuner
on deck while the rig’s operator is below decks.
