My SCR-183 transmitter on 80 meters, using 4 triode-connected 6AQ5s, was surprisingly stable, but I was using the stock dynamotor supply- perhaps that’s a factor. On 40 and 30 meters, chirp was a bigger problem than drift, which I fixed with a reversible switch to crystal control., using a circuit I had found in one of my transmitters, fixing it on 3105 KC. It worked fine.
Re: 1626- Once you build a socket adaptor, you can’t put the cover on the transmitter; they are too tall. I don’t remember if I tried them for functionality. The 6AQ5s worked so well, I suspended other experiments. 73 DE Dave AB5S
