[Milsurplus] art13 ballentine dynamotor

Well, one can go a bit crazy looking for the "best" bearing grease.  I know I have amassed quite a few product data sheets from several grease manufacturers.  The problem I see is that for the most part, the whizzbang modern grease is intended for larger, heavy duty, multi horsepower electric motors.  This is my impression from looking at motor pictures in the various brochures that explain how superior the grease is to that of the competition.
I am impressed with Ultra Lube white lithium grease.  The stuff is nontoxic, cheap and can be found at Walmart for around $4 per 8 ounce tube.  I repacked the gear drive on the wife's old Kitchen Aid mixer and was impressed by how long it continued to run once power was removed from the motor.  I did a side by side comparison with the new replacement mixer (white) and the repacked 30 year old mixer (almond) and the difference was very noticeable with the old mixer running almost three times longer when power was removed with nothing in the bowl.
The mixer story is long and interesting.  The old mixer was actually stalling while the wife was mixing cake batter.  I couldn't help myself; I took it apart and took a stab at the problem so now we have two working mixers.  I can't point fingers since I have at least a factor of three more in old tube radios compared to the wife's two working mixers.
Yes, the specs on Ultra Lube is not as good as AeroShell 5 or any of the other recommended electric motor greases from posts from over the years but I believe the white grease is still superior to the grease originally used on WW2 vintage fractional horsepower electric motors.  This is just a guess since I can't find any specs on the old grease.
My only hesitation is in opening up sealed or shielded bearings.  A quick check of Youtube found several videos featuring 14 year olds working on bearing from in-line skates.  Another video recommended opening a can of 5% beer before working on re-stuffing electric motor bearing!  I don't know, probably this is a good idea.
Coming up in the queue (months from now) is a three dynamotor assembly that has seen better days.  Perhaps I will be able to pull the old bearings and repack them and report back on what I find out with the white Lithium grease.Jim

If you decide to repack the bearings, I suggest you to use high temp grease like Aeroshell 5.
