Then, obviously, how they "work" depends on which ones we are dealing with.

In my case, the threading STARTED fairly correctly, and the plating was not, in my 
estimation, too thick, but the threads were "tapered" essentially on a slight curve, so that the 
two pieces could never be properly tightened.

In addition, they "galled" when tightened to a certain point.

Possibly there are multiple problems with these.
