Just guessing, Army Corps of Engineers, ocean-going tug? I think the Army owned some transport vessels, didn't they, at least til the early 1950s?

The recent discussion reminded me that out in the garage is a T-387/SRT-3A transmitter, made by RMCA for the Signal Corps.
Typical tall narrow format, using (as I recall) an 807 VFO on
5 preset frequencies, another 807 buffer, and three 211s in the final. Covers 300 to 500 KC.
Too rough to be a museum piece but if anyone needs it free for the hauling from Milwaukee, WI. Less tubes and as is. Too big and heavy for me to lift, let alone ship. Otherwise it will become parts available for trade to anyone building a LF transmitter. Has some nice Litz wound coils as I recall.
And why would the Signal Corps buy an obviously Naval rig?
