[Milsurplus] :LF receivers - "cheap" R-389s...

Hi

If the interest in R-390’s and R-390A’s is in relation to LF operation … They don’t normally 
tune below 500 KHz. Getting them to run at LF is “interesting”. I seem to have piles of both
radios sitting in the “I’ll get to it” category. 

The “most fun” LF radio I’ve ever owned was a BC-453. It will do LF without any mods. It runs well
on normal antennas. It’s selective enough to do what needs to be done at LF. 

One note: When converting the filament voltages on a 453, don’t randomly cut wires that are 
“in the way”. The radio does not work well until you hook them back up. I learned that back in 
the 1960’s.
