Do you mean the Mackay 123 ? If so - that is not particularly rare. They maybe were easy to grab out of the console when the rest went to scrap or whatever.
They don't date back to the heyday, altho the IP-501 was certainly still in service when the 123 appeared. I think by the schematics I have seen, the 123 dates
to 1937, IIRC. There is a suffix on the 123 like 123B or 123BX and I don't know what the X means and the manuals don't say either, unless maybe it's some kind
of date code for the set being installed in an updated console?
You have to wonder how the crystal set could be used. Your ship's power is out, so your console is down, and the battery powered 2nd receiver, the emergency
LF receiver, is also not working? So you get on your crystal radio, making sure the catwhisker is on a hot spot, and tune it up? So the urgent message you pick up
says, "Hey, you better get your ass off that tub and now!" ???
