The national 6 Meter FM calling frequency is 52.525. But from the 6 
meter openings I hear
in Georgia, there is a lot more listening than transmitting. Back last 
spring, when 6 was
open, I heard nothing until I gave a call.

51.0 is the military radio collectors 6 meter guard channel, but I've 
never raised anyone
on that channel during an opening.

If the scanner is capable of operating above 54 MHz, try putting in 
54.310. This is the
pilot carrier for Channel 2 digital television.  This comes across as a 
CW signal, but
it should quiet the receiver and open the squelch. There are a handful 
of digital
channel two stations in the US, and maybe Mexico. I suspect the opening 
would
have to be a very good one for this to work.
