not many home radios made during war..
funny smecc artifact story..

Motorola had lots of car radios during war...

no cars being made tanks being made instead...

moto had bad car radio sales but could not build home radios..

moto took car radios put in wood cabinet with power supply and BINGO a
home radio

and yes.... we have one.... one of our many ... mysteries at the
museum!

I was looking at an Allied Radio 1943 catalog last night. I was surprised
to see many many components offered. The communications
receiver selection was a little abbreviated but there were some Hallis,
Hammarlunds, and Nationals. There were, not surprisingly,
no home radios listed. But what gives with the other equipment? Was there
some kind of rationing in place, so only certain approved
buyers, agencies, allowed to purchase these things?
