Me either. I could never understand why Halli receivers were so universally unstable, yet 
their transmitters were so good.

Yes. In fact, that is the ONLY Hallicrafters receiver I've ever really wanted. I used one when 
I was a kid, and was really impressed.

Again, your opinion matches mine. A very nicely built receiver, looks like a receiver should, 
but doesn't work very well.

I'd like an R-388. I have an R-390A and had an R-390 (and an ARR-41) and they are nice 
receivers, but too complex. I still have an R-389.
