What types of batteries are you guys using to power your dynamotors…

----------

I have two 27V battery banks. Both are large sealed lead-acids

designed for Godzilla computer network cabinet UPS duty.

Both are floated at 27V by retired computer network cabinet

UPS units that used to have smaller gel cells internal, but now

have heavy wire running out to the batteries and thence to

the radios. I don’t remember their ratings, but two batteries

per bank and each battery weighs about 100 lbs.

I was given one set and one I got from a ham friend

for $100- a steal. I don’t think I can afford to replace them

with such brutes when they go to “Battery Heaven.”

That being said, I think cheap car batteries kept at

a good float would provide all the “cranking amps”

you need. That’s likely what I’ll try when

the time comes.
