I very much like the RU and the BC-229.  
They're so "cave man," ;-)
Years ago, I posted a Youtube on using a simple
wire regenerative feedback thingee; from the
Antenna post to one of the later tubes.  It was 
touchy and I used the ANT TUNING as kinda
a "regeneration" control, but once it was set,
I could seperate AM QSOs on 3890 and 3885 
completely.  Very slick.
I checked for that Youtube video and it doesn't
seem to be up any more.  I didn't know they 
"expired," but I guess so.  
I need to do more work on this issue.  
Got an idea to make it easier.
