All,
As of March 2017, Mr. Cundall has received new corporate financing and the hunt is back on. As they say, "It ain't over till It's over".

I believe about 5~6 years ago 10 or so planes were found buried in Burma

Spitfires:

After being led to the area by an eye-witness, the farmer's team dug a
borehole and sent a camera down to capture footage of the crates, which
were found to be in 'really good condition'.

Mr Cundall has now been given exclusive rights to all three sites under
investigation in Burma.
