[Milsurplus] Fwd: Those P-39s Still in the Crates...

So is this true: a B-17 ( for example ) would take off on a mission with a full complement of BC-375 TU's ? 
Where and how were the TUs cases secured in the plane? 

This reminds me of something vaguely connected. I recall years ago, talking with Donald R. Blaney ( SK, i'm sure ), former Navy radioman-gunner on TBM,
flying off Gambier Bay til it was sunk, something about it being a bit of a hassle for the guy down below to pass up a ( GP, i assume ) tuning unit....
wish i had taken closer notes....
He told me when they launched from the Gambier Bay on that day, the plane was unarmed, but they dove on Japanese warships just to maybe distract 
them from continuing to destroy the American carriers....
