It's only going to get worse as the climate changes continue.  What this means 
is that you should not be storing valuable items like collected radio gear in 
locations like basements which are subject to flooding.  Most mil gear can 
easily handle higher temperatures such as found in attics and that might be a 
better choice of storage location if available.  Also, a damp basement promotes 
mold.

If you do need to store items in a basement which might flood, see if at least 
you can get the gear listed on your homeowner's insurance.  This can usually be 
done for a small fee.
