It occurred to me that in the few books on 1930s-1940s aircraft radio that I have looked at, I do not recall any civil aviation
aircraft transmitters functioning in the range above 500 kHz to above the medium wave broadcast band. I'll add this subheading
to the topic as I look into it. I still have those books. "Absence of proof" is not entirely convincing, but it IS something. 
What I'm saying is, would you also expect to see similar  civilian aircraft transmitting equipment existing in the same timeframe,
if there were actually airfields using such frequencies for communication?

I am recalling now reading a Japanese account of some air combat incident in the Aleutian campaign. I think one Japanese pilot
was lost, and the carrier was sending to him to transmit on low frequency. I still have that book, intend to process out any references
