I don't think ARC archives are going to tell you either. They just filled a contract; I wouldn't suppose they were in meetings drawing up the 
equipment requirements for the services.

I also think the airfield frequencies theory is imaginative but wrong. Don't take it personally. 
I think I'll add this to my pages-long list of "look into this" subjects. I think, like acquiring frequency listing records.
You know what I think: the LF/ MF transmitters were purely for getting DF reports ( QTE ) from ground stations, or for providing homing
signals for other aircraft.
