Yes they did.  They made light-aircraft HF sets for
ferrying flights; many were used by the WASP.
I have a Link ex-WASP set in the "fix me" que.
They also made low-VHF mobiles in two 
"coffins" like the later GE.  I know shore patrol
used those but I don't know whom else did.
