[Milsurplus] TCK-4

I spent 33 years in the elevator business, and heartily agree a good MG
set definately adds a nice ambiance. A big older Otis or Westinghouse
that has sleeve beairings and runs at 1200 rpm is a very pleasent sound
indeed. The newer and more compact ones, especially those that run at
3600 RPM can be annoying screamers. Many people today will find any
motor noises unacceptable and strive for near or total silence, but a
properly serviced dynamotor in a BC-348 or ARC-5 receiver adds a lot to
the experience of using them. For older transmitters, the stiffness of
an MG set power source was often the deciding factor in frequency
stability and good modulation.
