"FedEx seems to deliver to residences, its an extra fee. At least that's
how it works out at the local pack & ship joint."

That's their cut. Many will claim an extra "surcharge" for fuel or
"home delivery". Usually BS for those who don't know and don't bother
to check. I'm 3/4 mile off the main drag. UPS is several miles off the
very same main drag. I'm 2/3 of the way through the route for the
driver, you'd be amazed at how many try to ding me for an extra $3 to
pocket, claiming it's a "fuel surcharge".

Horses--t! Double check all the claims and rates, they're just boning
you, unless you live in some far-out barely existent part of the world.
In nearly 30 years of buying, selling, and my younger years at shipping
for a large distributor, I have not ever seen one legitimate claim along
these lines. Not to say the don't exist, but everything said, and
example given on the list today is not even close to how the system
really works. You, personally, and the shippers you use, have access to
the same information and services the companies you use do. Do your
research, it's not a secret, or a surprise, it's all up front.

Kurt
