In a similar vein, I had a Tektronix 503 scope once, worked fine except
the triggering circuit was touchy. Found a leaky germanium diode,
replaced it with a 1N4148 and it worked fine, triggering was solid
and stable.

Now wish I hadn't sold it in a fit of downsizing. The X-Y feature
would have been handy for a couple of projects later on.
