After the two US Navy ships were captured then released by Iranian
Revolutionary Guard sailors last year, I read several accounts that reported
the US sailors later said their GPS went haywire while passing near Iranian
waters. The articles speculated that the Iranians were able to spoof GPS
signals and "lure" the vessels close to shore. Here's one reference:

capture/ .
What's old is new again.

There's been talk of this for some time, but now it seems that South Korea
is motivated to make it happen (for some reason!) and eLoran is getting
major media attention:

Residents are opposing the antenna installation - so what's new? (Note that
a bill to restore the eLoran system has been passed by the US House and will
go to the Senate for approval).
