One of my first jobs was rebuilding time clocks, i.e. time card and / or master clocks. Part of the rebuilding process was repainting the cabinets. In the basement of the shop we had an old oven fitted with those ( now antique ) heater coils with the light bulb type base. I would flip on the oven and wait for it to come up to around 200 degrees +/-. I would then spray the metal cabinet and place it on the oven rack for about 30 minutes +/-. When removed, it yielded a "perfect" wrinkle finish. Of course this was back in the 1960's and the paint probably contained all sorts of "bad stuff". However, using modern "wrinkle" paint from the auto parts store, I've found it to be just fine if the object being painted is left to dry in direct sunlight on a fairly warm day 72 degrees +.
