[Milsurplus] AN/ARC-2 question

Don't know about the ARC-2 but if circuit wise it is indeed similar to the ARR-15 then the shield over the ARR-15 IF circuit is critical when the receiver is outside of the dust cover.  Seems that the ARR-15 overloads when this shield is missing.
If the ARC-2 uses the same IF coupling capacitors as the ARR-15, then changing the IF coupling capacitors to something much smaller will reduce the IF bandwidth and should make the ARC-2 more usable.  I know this works for the ARR-15 and makes this fine receiver very usable in crowded band conditions.  Also, defeating the audio filter when in CW mode makes the ARR-15 usable for SSB reception.  These simple mods are easily reversible.Jim

The ARC-2 transceiver:
Is the internal shielding really enough that the PTO is really
not heard in the IF in AM mode?
-----------------------

Some of the shields are missing in my ARC-2 and
I still don't hear any feed-thru on AM.
Aside:  I doubled the size of the capacitor that
couples LO for BFO and it became much better
on CW and SSB reception.
