I am going to fashion for the GRC-9 receiver a bias battery from AAAA cells to replace the installed 4.5 volt BA-1293/U.
( BTW, do you know where in the manual this BA number is called out? Other than "BT1" i mean? I did not see it. )
The present battery measures 0.06 volt and has a number stamped on top "6316". Is that a date code for 1963 ?
I ripped open using diag cutters two brands of 9 volt batts. I have a limited stock of workplace discarded 9 volt cells that
still have some life, so i have not bought any 9 volters for years, and so i had a very limited selection to dissect.
The "Energizer Industrial" held 6 of the AAAA cells, which spilled out once i ripped the shell of the battery open.
The "Duracell Alkaline" held AAAA's also, but this battery is preferable to the above one, as the individual AAAA cells
are linked together with thin metal strips, which will make it so much easier to solder to; only two connections required,
once you carefully strip out 3 cells. "Duracell Alkaline" seems to be the one to go for.
I have not ripped open other batts, so if you have found other proven 9 volt battery brands that hold AAAA cells, please
report.
