Thanks Jim for your reply. But I think Robert nailed it with it being a post war repaint and the replacement data plate. At least for the gray BC 1000's I have.

I have A TCS , TCZ and RBC that got the post war repaint treatment as those were Navy sets but for some reason didn't associate the BC 1000 with the Navy as it was a Army Signal Corps radio but certainly could have been used by the Navy too.

Just to throw another wrench into the works. The army had many hundreds of ships maned by army peronael during WWII some made by Higgins the fanous landing craft maker the army operated transport, cargo ,hospital and repair ships during WWI and WWII and also currently today they have a blue water fleet so your bc-1000 may just be that "Army".jimKb1PFL
