Well, not always. I have found several items at very good prices, but it requires
considerable "research" and a lot of patient waithing. For instance, I bought a complete
HRO-50-R1, with all but two of the coils that National offered (50 - 100 kC was one), and a
combination speaker/coil box to contain them all in for under $200 and it all got here in one
piece. I also recently bought a Johnson "250 watt" Matchbox for $68 shipped. So, you can
find bargains, if you're very careful.

I did. Found two RT-524s for around $400, and two R-246s for somewhat more than that,
but these were just the bare rigs with no accessories. I also found mounts for the R-442
which were close to $200 each. Although these were brand new, I thought that was too
much for those.

As I said, with VERY careful shopping and a lot of patience, I find bargains there regularly.
Here's another: I bought several VT-4C/211s off ebay for an average price of $20 each
while the audiophiles were selling and paying well over $100 each for them. I did this mainly
just to see if I could do it. All of those I bought were prefectly good. I passed them on to
some users who needed them.

I wonder if the "preppers" have wanted them...

Yes. I keep watching for other bargains, but often miss some good ones.
