[Milsurplus] AN/GRA-6 issues

The AN/GRA-6 dilemma, couple weeks back posted something about my issues with the GRA-6 remote control system and its use with the GRC-106 SSB transceiver. The problem was that I was not getting sufficient output from the H-33 handsets to properly drive the transceiver. Did find that not all H-33 handsets are created or at least age equal being some handsets had OK output if you yell where others were almost useless on the radio mode or in the telephone mode but this is the weird thing. All the H-33 handsets work somewhat well for the direct input to the transceiver. The big difference is that the transceiver directs uses a much higher bias voltage for the microphone element, six or seven volts DC where the GRA-6 uses two D Cell batteries for a total of 3 volts DC. Looking at the output of the remote with a scope shows almost twice the voltage peak to peak with using six to nine volts in place of the two batteries and would make the system almost useable. I am almost beginning to wonder if a nine volt battery jumpier in place of the two D cells may be the solution or if I should keep looking for better performing H-33 elements. Also I am looking for a M-29 microphone to see how that performs compared to the H-33
