I drove to Canada twice post- 9/11 to bring late WW2 - to 1950's vintage Canadian Navy transmitters. In addition, once I also had several 1950's - '60's GRC series low-VHF US military radios I brought to sell at Dayton. I drove from SC to go to Dayton a day and a half early to continue up north to Canada first, to pick up a Marconi Canada manufactured Canadian Navy 500W HF shipboard transmitter. I had my ham license with me, and I had absolutely no hassle when I told the customs inspector at the border crossing, that I'm carrying vintage, obsolete surplus radio equipment with me, for my personal and not commercial use. The previous trip was also to pick up Canadian Navy radios of the same vintage and the same manufacturer, this time it was a 100 W transmitter and the matching receiver, both in a desktop console. Nobody even asked anything, even on the US side.
