[Milsurplus] Carbon mic booster ?

I wonder if this would work for a carbon mic booster. Single transistor;
base AC grounded, with bias thru resistor from collector; carbon mic from
emitter to ground.

Collector to microphone hot wire. Transistor is fine with 1.5-3 volts mic
supply. Amplification is low  due to low collector load - microphone
transformer - but possibly

enough for a usable output boost. Only "advantage" is original carbon
element stays in place. And, maybe you actually like "telephone voice
sound".
