[Milsurplus] Another "what is it?"

This followed me home yesterday, and I'm
wondering if anyone can ID it.

It is obviously a piece of a larger unit,
it is a chassis about 24" long with 10
MS31xx chassis connectors, and a number
of Cinch Jones 30 pin sockets.

There are three panels plugged into the
C-J sockets, labeled
PN-41
PN-42
PN-44

PN-41 has a lever switch for talk/ring, and
toggle switches for battery and light.

PN-42 has 6 lever switches, 3 of which are
labled for receiver 1, 2 , and 3, plus a
talk/ring lever switch.

The PN-44 has jacks for mic and headset, and
a lever switch, one position of which is labled
BD-72.

The panels are all bakelite or similar material.

I have a have a hunch that it is related to the
BC-639 and BC-640 based VHF systems, but can
anyone say for sure?

It was MFP'ed in 1953, and it looks like the MFP
did its job. It has been sitting outdoors for who
knows how long, and still doesn't look too bad.

How well it works would be another story all together.
