Well, just to defend the honor of the USN, it was the Navy Dept., not the
War Dept (Army), that paid for the development and acquired the RBA/RBB/RBC
receivers. I don't know what the development costs were. Anyone? Federal
Telephone & Radio for the RBA, RCA for the RBB and RBC.
April 1940 initial production contracts - Approximate costs (with spare
parts)
$3000 for RBA (Federal)
$2700 for RBB (RCA)
$2400 for RBC (RCA)
