And i think we can agree that CQ did not mean come quick. It meant something like calling anyone who can hear me. So i can imagine cqd meaning "calling anyone who can hear me i am in distress"

I believe, that like sos, these easy to remember mnemonics were established after the fact to hemp people remember it. But probably not their initial intended meaning.
