The pdf size-reducing site at https://smallpdf.com/compress-pdf often does an amazing job of taking a pdf significantly down in size without apparent image degradation.  I've had to use it on all pdfs that I've posted to milsurplus and arc5 due to the very limited attached file size limitations of those lists.

I was wondering why that wasn't the very first strategy to be used.  It only makes sense that the person to profit is the one to pay with his time and effort.  :-)

True...but frankly, I have always hated DjVu-formatted documents.
