It's an H-46/UR headset, and was agreeably a hodge podge when it was
first introduced, Hutch. See middle of the page at
http://aafradio.org/flightdeck/Peripherals-headsets.html - and the
original 1945 modification instructions at
http://aafradio.org/flightdeck/H-46.html It was highly prized when it
first came out because of its hands free capability compared with the
T-17 and RS-38 mics formerly used, and didn't have the intelligibility
drawback of the throat mics. It's still a good headset today.
The Gummi Pfledge is as good as anything else I've tried, but sometimes
the rubber is past saving by any chemical.
