The M-6/UR and M-6A/UR are carbon lip mics, part of Microphone Assembly
M-5/UR. Used in aircraft at altitudes below 12,000 feet.. Put it in series
with a 6 v battery and a resistor. Adjust current to about 55 mA. Put an
analog AC voltmeter across the element and blow on or whistle at the element.
Or put it in front of a loudspeaker. Or simplest, connect an ohmmeter to it
and blow or whistle.

M-6/UR is listed in the 1945 SIG 5, but not M-6A.
