[Milsurplus] How late were ARN-7 Radio Compasses (ADFs) in US mil service?

In 1971, I was stationed at Griffiss AFB in Rome, New York. I had an
ARN-6 setup I had bought three years before, and needed a manual. For
grins and giggles, I called the base radio shop and to my surprise, they
had manuals and gave me an extra. The ARN-6 was still very much in use
then, and they had an ARN-7 test setup as well that was used once in a
while for older cargo planes. I installed the ARN-6 in my car, powering
it with a solid state power supply that doubled the 12 volts. Lots of
people- including my squadron commander- thought it was neat, the
killjoy lifers weren't so nice.
