Dave, 
1-You don't want to put the adapter in the first IF slot? Is this because of
AVC concerns?
The signal level at the 2nd IF is going to be a lot harder for that poor
little triode to deal with.
Not only that, it kinda goes against the rule to get the selectivity as
close to the antenna as possible.
( Of course, the triode is going to be unhappy with any AVC in either slot.
Don't you want a pentode? )
With the triodes there is no trace of any regeneration effect?

2-The zener really has no RF bypass?

3- ( i don't remember ) Does the TCS have enough real estate around the SK7
socket that your adapter could go horizontal,
like a rectangular piece of PC material with the tube plugging in and some
of the works beside it? ( Ever seen one of those
vacuum tube op amp plugins? )
