I didn't mean that everyone had to have an interest in everything in order
to participate in the discussion. But your comment could be read to mean
that nothing that you weren't personally interested in is a valid example.
This is after all the Milsurplus list. I have no interest in any of the
civilian sets except for some test equipment but that doesn't mean that some of
them couldn't be valid examples for the subject at hand.
How many were made is really immaterial to the scarcety subject. The
criteria is only how many survive in. For an example, I cite the PE-163-B.
About the same number of them were built as were the PE-163-C. And on the face
of it, they aren't rare. But the PE-163-B as-built would operate the
SCR-284 and AN/TRC-2. There was an MWO that removed capability of operating
anything but SCR-694-C and AN/GRC-9 (and probably AN/GRC-109). All that I have
ever seen or heard of have had the MWO applied. So the PE-163-B that isn't
really a PE-163-C is rare to unobtanium.
