I have one in storage somewhere, don't recall the make/model , but McKay
sounds vaguely familiar.

Yes, that's the beast. The volume and weight comes from the generator 
inside.
But I'm going to leave it in. The receiver band would be easy to retune. I 
would like
to place a crystal socket for the transmitter, but I don't see how to do it 
without
changing the appearance. Maybe the opening for the dryer seal. Something 
like that.
I think this is the model 401 or 403. ( I don’t want to go look. )

I have a Marinetta TRP, a Danish solid-state one, and with the lessened 
generator
load you can actually crank it and tune the receiver around at the same 
time.
