The GRC-9, does it seem to you also that regarding the dial lens and display 
on the receiver section, there are two varieties;
one having the dial lens less thick, and thus easier to look thru at a 
distance, and that the receivers with the thinner lens
have larger numbers on the dial, and thus also easier to read? I haven't 
systematized the observation as to particular
manufacturers.

When FAIR got all those GRC-9s some years back, from AVCO, was AVCO 
manufacturing new cases for overhauled, 1950s
manufactured radios?
