AlDo you prefer a waterless hand cleaner with or without pumice?
I've used waterless hand cleaner and then mineral spirits in several applications to remove waxes and other protective coatings from consumer radio wood cabinets without raising the grain and then add a top coat of lacquer to bring the cabinet back to a decent condition.
Removing the pumice residue seems to just add another step to the cleaning process.  Don't know how much the pumice adds to the cleaning steps when working on wrinkle finishes but I would think it is just about the same.  Your thoughts?
A mild etch on bare aluminum might be a good way to get new paint to stick a little better, but you are right, it can be over done and make things much worse.Jim

Gary,

That scares me. As I recall, (at least in the old days) Easy Off
contains lye that coverts the grease in your oven to soap, so you can
wipe it off.
Lye etches aluminum!

I'm pretty happy with GoJo and a soft brush.
