The T-17 shown in that listing was modified with what looks like an F1 
element mounted to the mouthpiece.

On another subject, the use of MF by military aircraft, I was thinking about 
the Navy MB aircraft radio.
I just spent a few minutes trying to look it up in Navy catalogs, but some 
of the downloads are large enough I don't want to pursue that now.
But as I recall, the frequency range of this radio was 540-960 kcs.  How 
explain that, if the theory is, it was for use overseas, as in foreign
airfields. The aircraft carrying this radio was scout patrol, didn't go 
overseas. I think it's simply for communication, when MF frequency might
be useful, and for sending homing signals for a ship or other planes to get 
a bearing.
