Dave, you NAILED it. This type of rare receiver does have a certain ALLURE.
I did hear of one for sale in Baton ROUGE. However, if any of us finds one of those 100 or so
receivers, we will certainly yell "OLAY!"
If someone offers an R-390 for sale now and states that it is in "good cosmetic condition",
some collectors may begin to wonder if they have at last found one of these special and
elusive "Rubenstein" radios! They must be "L'OREALLY RARE."
Be careful that the seller has not attempted to cover up some AGE SPOTS!
Now if you DO find one, make sure that you operate it on the correct CHANEL. Also if you
hear a station calling you, make sure that it is not just "AVON CALLING."
Make sure you check the dials first to see that when you turn them there is no binding, and
they have easy REVLON-lution. If you experience any of these problems, do not fear. There
are several places listed in the Boatanchors Directory that can help you if you need a "repair
CLINIQUE."
Be a POLISHED operator, and when you finish a transmission when using this receiver make
absolutely sure that you send a "MERRY K" to the other station! Otherwise, he is likely to
close the SIRCUIT.
I hope nobody is BLUSHING!!

p.s. To stay on topic - I offer a clean, new, unusued, unopened T20/ARC5 Transmitter for
sale. Open to offers.

They then passed the contract back to Collins to fill a order of 100 units. If I recall to date no R390a's have been documented with a Helena Rubinstein tag.
